NEW BRUNSWICK – A teenage boy was treated for a gunshot wound at a downtown New Brunswick hotel, police said Saturday.

At around 9 p.m. on Friday evening, New Brunswick responded to the Heldrich Hotel, which is across from the State Theater.

Officials said a 17-year-old man was alone in a hotel room with a wound on his groin and leg.

The teenager was treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and police identified that several other people were in the room at the time of the shooting.

The alleged participants gave “contradicting stories” about what happened, said the police.

Anyone with information about the investigation has been asked to contact the New Brunswick Police Department
