France cannot set a date for the resumption of tourism; Portugal is still on the UK government’s red list of hotel quarantine, and in Croatia visitors from third countries – that’s us – must be quarantined. India and much of Asia remain closed, the borders in Australia and New Zealand are sealed, and the Biden government does not seem in a hurry to reopen the US.
Yes, it takes 12 long weeks before foreign holidays are legal and a lot can change – for better or for worse. Although armchair immunologists would argue that overseas travel is irresponsible and unnecessary, while Covid remains a threat, families in countries that depend on tourism for a living would disagree.
