CHARLOTTE – Police have charged three people after a man was found shot dead in a hotel room in south Charlotte early Saturday morning.

It happened around 12:45 p.m. on Westpark Drive, which is off Tyvola Road and Interstate 77.

Officials said they were on Westpark Drive for an independent call when they heard a shot had been fired in the area. When they first started the investigation, they found 31-year-old Dean Varian with a gunshot wound in a hotel room.

Varian was rushed to the hospital but later died of his injuries.

Police charged Alicia Thrower, 25, Kheelen Stockdale, 21, and a 16-year-old with first degree murder, armed robbery and armed robbery conspiracy.

Investigators have not yet said what led to the shooting.
