Christian Wood has been the subject of trade speculation for some time and given the way he has played so far, he would certainly get some interest from rival teams if made available.

Wood is currently playing for that Houston Rockets, but they are undergoing a complete renovation. That means, if the big man stays in the team, he could spend his top years without major playoff successes or even title chances.

However, if there’s one thing for him, it’s the fact that he’s in the second year of a cheap three-year contract. With that in mind, the Rockets could easily make him a contender in return for solid assets. In the meantime, the 26-year-old can play significant basketball and contribute to a winning team.

With that in mind, here are the top three trading destinations for Rockets’ Christian Wood.

Christian timber trade destinations

3. Chicago Bulls

These additions were vital to their launch, and adding a player like Wood could make them a legitimate contender. He could fit into the starting XI even if Nikola Vucevic returns from injury or a fatal sixth man.

In the season it is average 16.2 points per game along with 11.2 rebounds. Wood is a versatile scorer because he can score on all three levels.

Coby White could be a trading piece for Wood to provide Chicago with another player who could help them fight for a title. You could also incorporate draft picks to improve their offering.

If the Bulls can acquire wood, they have legitimate competition in the Eastern Conference.

2. Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors were the best team in the league at the start of the season. Despite still being without Star Guard Klay Thompson, they are at the top of the Western Conference at 15-2.

Stephen Curry has had a phenomenal campaign on average so far 28.4 points per game along with 5.9 rebounds and 6.6 assists. He also shoots 41.1 percent behind the bow.

Wood would go well with Golden State as they could use a reliable center. Golden State is ready to return to the championship fight, and adding Wood would make them an even more deadly team.

The Warriors could use their young players like James Wiseman or Moses Moody in this deal. You could also use future first round draft picks to stir the pot for the Rockets to close the deal. Wood would give the Dubs a much-needed established center to make a deep playoff run.

1. Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings have been in the midst of rebuilding for some time and need to build their core. The addition of Wood would go well with their young guards De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton.

The Kings her head coach fired Luke Walton that the news fans have been longing for. You have appointed Alvin Gentry as interim head coach. This is a change in the right direction and adding a player like Wood could take the team to new levels.

Sacramento hasn’t made the postseason since the 2005-06 season and it looks like they won’t be back this year. Adding Wood, who can double-double on a nightly basis, would be ideal. The Kings have Marvin Bagley III on offer as part of this deal, especially since he’s also been featured in trade rumors lately.

Bagley III could thrive in a new situation and grow with the young core of the Rockets. A deal with Bagley III and draft compensation could benefit both teams.

Wood would be a huge threat in pick and roll with Fox and Haliburton and would add another element to the offense.

He’s a fascinating player to watch as the season progresses. Competing teams and teams looking to add a solid center for the future could make an offer.

Christian Wood isn’t a household name, but he’s a perfect small ball center in the modern day NBA. He will come and have an impact on any team if moved and walking away from him could help the Rockets acquire more assets. As it currently stands, however, Houston has not made it clear what their plans are for Wood and the rest of the team amid their fights.
