QUINCY – Three residents of O’Brien Towers, a Quincy Housing Authority building in Germantown, were relocated to hotels Wednesday after a Nor’Easter damaged the roof of the building.

The hotels were made available by the office of United States Representative Stephen Lynch when housing authorities saw a flurry of support, their managing director James Marathas said.

The storm tore off a top layer of insulation from the roof of the social housing building, causing debris to fall around the building. The roof itself is still intact.

“We will (possibly) have to do a complete roof replacement,” said Marathas. “At the moment we are working on securing the building for the storm on Saturday.”

Crews are cleaning up the O'Brien Towers on October 28, 2021.

The emergency services were on site on Thursday morning and took care of the clean-up and maintenance work.

The storm created widespread problems along the South Shore, damaging homes everywhere and leaving cities completely without power as of Thursday morning.

Marathas said a number of politicians and the City of Quincy reached out to see if they could help, including U.S. Seniors Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey, as well as local elected officials including Senator John Keenan and Rep. Tackey Chan.
