RAPID CITY, SD (KEVN) – With the announcement of additional flights to Rapid City, the tourism industry is hoping these flights will bring more visitors to the Black Hills.

Rapid City Regional Airport announced the addition of another destination. Allegiant Airlines will fly to Punta Gorda, Florida, twice a week starting June 4th

Michelle Thomson of Black Hills Badlands Tourism says if flights are announced they will start digging into digital marketing in those areas to generate interest in the area.

“We are very happy to be able to show people what there is to see and do here. We know that by opening up these markets, more people will be able to discover the Black Hills and go on vacation, ”said Michelle Thomson, president of the Black Hills Badlands Tourism Association

Thomson added that unlike those who generally drive, people who fly in don’t bring as much and can result in greater economic impact.
