Tourism grant functions out there in Aiken County

AIKEN, SC (WRDW / WAGT) – Applications and guidelines for local tourism development grants are now available.

They are located at the Aiken County’s Visitor Center at Laurens St. NW 133 in www.discoveraikencounty.com on the contact page and at the parks, recreation, and tourism office of the Aiken County Government Center.

These funds must be used for tourism development, whereby the financing should take place primarily in the unincorporated areas of the Aiken district. Available tax revenues will be collected through housing in the unincorporated areas of Aiken County and will be redistributed to replenish the housing tax base. Applicants should have 50% of the funds available.

Local taxpayers’ money for accommodation relates to tourism projects as follows:

  • Tourism-related buildings, including, but not limited to, civic centers, coliseums, and aquariums.
  • Tourism-related cultural, leisure or historical facilities.
  • Tourism-related land and water access.
  • Highways, roads, roads and bridges provide access to tourist destinations.
  • Water and wastewater infrastructure for tourist requirements.

The projects must take place and be completed between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022. The deadline for receiving your application ends on June 18 at 5:00 p.m.
