THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) – Thomasville’s tourism guides met with several representatives of the city’s newest attraction.

The 107-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel is slated to open in the heart of downtown on March 17th, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day and the 100th annual Rose Show and Festival.

People are already calling for reservations, which tourism manager Bonnie Hayes says is good news for the local economy.

“It will allow people to really come and experience our main attraction, which is downtown,” said Hayes. “That is what makes our community so unique. And all the hotel properties have been all over the city for years. They were closer to the motorway and didn’t really touch the heart of our city.”

Pointed out that it has been over 100 years since a hotel operated in downtown Thomasville, Hayes said it was a great addition to her community.
