The 20th Global Summit of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), organized in collaboration with the government of Quintana Roo, will take place April 25-27 in Cancun, Mexico.

“Uniting the world for recovery” will be the main theme of this year’s annual Global Summit, which will be the first major live event in the travel and tourism sector since the global pandemic broke out.

At a press conference in Cancun on March 23, Gloria Guevara, WTTC President and CEO, and Carlos Joaquín González, Governor of Quintana Roo, announced that speakers from all over the world will be attending, including Carnival Corporation business leaders, Hilton, Marriott, Meliá, Airbnb, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Expedia Group, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Trip.com and Internova among others.

WTTC also announced that former Colombian President and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Juan Manuel Santos will take the stage during the 2016 Global Summit.

WTTC’s annual Global Summit is the most influential travel and tourism event on the calendar, where senior industry leaders meet with key government officials to take action on the biggest and most important issues on the international agenda. This year the Global Summit will examine the challenges ahead and provide a platform for the sector to recover.

This year’s summit is taking place in a hybrid format so that the industry can follow the sessions online via a virtual platform.
