Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao on Wednesday called on Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to sanction £ 63 million for the beach development between Sagar Nagar (Zoo Park) and Bheemili Beach in the city.

The Minister of Tourism met Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the latter’s warehouse office in Tadepalli and informed him that the Tourism Department had identified nine beaches for development along the lines of “Blueflag Beach” in Rushikonda.

Among them are Sagar Nagar Beach, Pedda Rushikonda Beach, M. Timmapuram Beach (opposite Rama Naidu Studios), Mangamaripeta Beach, Chepaluppada Beach, INS Kalinga Beach, Erramattidibbalu Beach and Bheemili Beach.

He suggested that the beaches could be equipped with toilets, drinking water systems, changing rooms, first aid centers, CCTV control rooms, benches, open showers, food courts, deck chairs with umbrellas, children’s parks, fitness equipment, jogging trails. Parking, safe swimming areas, beach sports, solar power plants and beach information points promote tourism.

“The Government of India’s spending on the development of Blueflag Beach in Rushikonda is known to be around £ 7 billion. Since these nine beaches are also to be developed along the lines of Rushikonda Beach, the approximate development cost will be 63 crore, ”the Minister wrote, adding that these beaches would certainly become major tourist attractions for domestic and foreign tourists.

Mr Srinivasa Rao also urged the Chief Minister to improve the Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in the Bheemili constituency by sanctioning 36.11 crore. He was also looking for Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy to build junior colleges in Padmanabham, Madhurawada and Bheemili.

The minister said the chief minister responded positively to his suggestions.
