Tourism stakeholders held a rally here on Friday denouncing the central and state governments’ alleged apathetic attitude towards lakhs by workers who have become unemployed due to the pandemic situation and the subsequent lull in the arrival of tourists.

This was part of a nationwide protest organized by tourism professionals. The rally in town started at DH Ground and ended on Marine Drive. Both employees and owners of various tourism companies took part in the protest.

Among the speakers were the President of Tourism Professionals Club George Scaria, Secretary Asok Swaroop, President of the Tourism Care Foundation Sheik Ismail and Secretary of Kerala Travel Mart Jose Pradeep. They expressed concern about the governments ignoring the eyes of workers who have suffered over the past 10 months and warned not to step up their protests if the situation continues.
