Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island has been accredited by Destinations International – the global trade association for more than 600 destination organizations in 13 countries – and has received the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) seal.

This award underscores our organization’s commitment to excellence in the industry and the fulfillment of industry standards for performance and accountability by target organizations around the world.

“With DMAP accreditation, our Destination Marketing Organization has demonstrated its worth in meeting industry standards by developing strategic and transparent initiatives for management and marketing, including governance, finance, human resources, sales, communications, destination development and research” said Gordon Orr, CEO Tourism Windsor Essex. “We are very excited to join the elite group of 18 other DMOs in Canada that are DMAP accredited.”

As part of DMAP, Tourism Windsor Essex is now part of a group of 225 DMOs worldwide that have met stringent industry accreditation standards. Only 18 other destination marketing organizations are accredited in Canada, with Tourism Windsor Essex now only one of four in the province of Ontario.

“We are delighted that Tourism Windsor Essex is part of our respected group of professionals,” said Don Welsh, President and CEO of Destinations International. “The industry award defines quality and performance standards for destination organizations and I look forward to welcoming you to the DMAP community.”

The accreditation program requires a target organization to successfully adhere to a variety of mandatory and voluntary standards that span a variety of performance areas in order to achieve this meaningful achievement. The standards cover almost all aspects related to the management and marketing of destination organizations, including governance, finance, human resources, sales, communication, destination development and research.
