Vesper Country Club’s Tracy Martin played a shiny round of 3 under 68 to win the Women’s Lowell City Golf Tournament on Saturday at Nabnasset Lake Country Club.

Originally from Tyngsboro and former Bishop Guertin, outstanding Martin cruised to a five-shot victory.

Mount Pleasant’s Morgan Smith, who will be a senior at Westford Academy, finished second with a 2-over round of 73, followed by her younger sister Molly with a 3-over round of 74.

After a straight par 35 on the front nine, Martin caught fire in the back. She made four birdies and only one bogey for a 33 to complete it.

Last summer, Martin had an unforgettable day at the Vesper Country Club. She fired a 62 to set a new course record for women from the red tees at Vespers. The round included a hole-in-one on the 153-yard par-3 17th and an eagle on the 293-yard par-4 13th.

On Saturday, she overwhelmed the rest of The Cities field.

Martin played her college golf at the University of Richmond. She ended her career in 2013 with the second-best point average (78.44) in program history.

Long Meadows Caitlin Barry, a five-time champion, was fourth with a 4-over 75. Nabnassets Sophia Flabouris was fifth (78), followed by Long Meadows Madison Smith (80) and Vespers Liz O’Brien (80) tied for sixth.

Molly Smith won the championship last year while her sisters Morgan and Madison finished second and third. Saturday marked another top 10 placement for all three sisters.

Colleen Kaiser von Vesper and Jessica Hughes and Anne Windhol von Nabnasset all shot an 83 to round out the top 10.

Vesper won the team title with a total of 883 points. Nabnasset (909) finished second, followed by Long Meadow (933) and Mount Pleasant (952).

A total of 48 golfers from the four courses played in the one-round tournament.
