Sustainability, exchange of experiences and their vision of the future of tourism – what do 12-18 year olds think? The Global Youth Tourism Summit invites a select group of children from all over the world to search for answers.

The 1st Global Youth Tourism Summit (23-25 ​​August 2021, Sorrento, Italy) will be the first of its kind on a global scale, allowing young participants to be part of a unique experience aimed at promoting the engagement of young people Empowering people in the tourism sector and empowering younger generations to drive a more sustainable world.

The summit is organized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Tourism and the Italian Tourism Association and is being hosted by the Italian government as part of its G20 presidency this year.

Speak as one

With this initiative, the UNWTO joins the rest of the UN family by actively recognizing the crucial contribution of youth to the development of societies.

“Children and young people are not just our future leaders, they are important players in the present, and we can strengthen and involve them from today,” says UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili.

UNWTO model

In a model UNWTO General Assembly, the participants will adopt their own declaration on the future of tourism. The document will be presented at the 24th session of the UNWTO General Assembly (October 12-15, 2021, Marrakech, Morocco).

The event will feature a range of interactive activities and will also involve leading global figures to share their experiences in tourism and in areas such as sports, music, gastronomy and the film industry.
