Due to the profound and lasting impact that COVID-19 had on the tourism industry, the 2020 CARES Act enabled the EDA to offer support for “travel and tourism-related marketing campaigns” for the first time.

The Utah Office of Tourism’s two-year project consists of three different components:

  • An industry training program
  • Plans to restore the target
  • An in-state marketing campaign

“Our goal is to train the tourism industry in best practices to thrive in a post-pandemic world, prepare our individual goals for economic recovery, and encourage Utah residents to travel responsibly,” said Vicki Varela, Executive Director of the Utah Office of Tourism. “These projects cover all areas affected by COVID-19 – our work, our business skills, community preparation, and mitigating the impact of visits on our public lands.”

The grant, which is to be combined with government funding of $ 250,000, is expected to create 256 high-paying and high-quality jobs.
