Under this scheme, the length of quarantine varies depending on vaccination status, and travelers are required to undergo a test during the isolation period.

In one recently To update, Thailand recently introduced an entry system for travelers in Alternative Quarantine (AQ) effective January 11, 2022.

This AQ program is open to Thai citizens and overseas travelers, including but not limited to diplomats, government guests, Thai work permit holders, students and their families, and patients seeking medical treatment. These eligible travelers can enter Thailand from any entry point – by land, sea and air.

Before entering Thailand, travelers must prepare the following documents:

1. A Thailand passport

2. A. Medical certificate with negative RT-PCR laboratory result issued no more than 72 hours prior to departure.
Thai nationals and travelers under the age of six traveling with their parents are exempt from this obligation. However, when arriving by water, everyone on board the ships must present a medical certificate with an RT-PCR laboratory result, which shows that COVID-19 has not been detected within the officially established time frame. In addition, anyone on board with a history of COVID-19 infection within the last 14 to 90 days must provide a medical certificate of recovery.

3. To Insurance policy with at least $ 50,000 coverage.
Thais and foreign expatriates under the Thai National Health Insurance are exempt from this requirement.

4th Proof of confirmed payment for Alternative Quarantine (AQ) accommodation or a similar state-approved institution. Foreign nationals must also provide proof of payment for the required RT-PCR tests.
A seven or ten day quarantine requires two RT-PCR COVID-19 tests. In the case of a 14-day quarantine, three RT-PCR COVID-19 tests are required.

5. All travelers must be the ‘Exit screening’ at the place of departure at all entry points and submit the required documents to the person responsible for the control.
Upon entry, travelers must undergo an “immigration check,” including a body temperature check. After immigration controls, travelers are required to provide the Immigration / Health Control Officer with the necessary documents to conduct the controls prior to going through the immigration procedures.

After going through the above procedures, travelers go into quarantine.

The quarantine time varies:

  • Travelers with a vaccination card who have been fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine at least 14 days prior to travel to Thailand (or travelers under the age of 18 have received at least one dose) seven days quarantine.
  • Travelers without a vaccination card become one 10-day quarantine.
  • Travelers who arrive by water, for whom everyone on board has a vaccination certificate according to the travel document Requirement number 2 above, only a seven days quarantine is necessary.
  • If someone on board does not have a vaccination card, everyone on board becomes one 10-day quarantine.
  • Travelers under the age of 18 traveling with their parents or legal guardians must comply with the same duration as their parents or legal guardians.

During quarantine, travelers are required to perform multiple RT-PCR COVID-19 tests:

  • For travelers under seven-day quarantine, two RT-PCR tests are required on day 0-1 and day 5-6.
  • For travelers under a 10-day quarantine, two RT-PCR tests are required on day 0-1 and day 8-9.
  • For travelers under a 14-day quarantine, three RT-PCR tests are required on day 0-1, day 5-6, and day 12-13.

All travelers must download the MorChana application, and keep it on at all times due to COVID-19 precautions.

When traveling, it should be noted that for international departures, it is the responsibility of the travelers or their organizations to ensure that the travelers meet the requirements of their respective international destination regardless of the place of departure. For domestic departures, travelers can travel anywhere in Thailand after completing the required quarantine period.

Suspended: Thailand Pass system for new registrations

In addition to sharing the revised incoming traveler checklist (as noted above), Thailand also has the temporary suspension of the Exemption from quarantine (TEST & GO) entry regulationsas approved by the country’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

Therefore, new registrations for a Thailand passport specifically for the program for the release from the quarantine (TEST & GO) are temporarily suspended until further notice.

Travelers who applied for / received their Thailand Pass QR code before December 22, 2021, with planned arrival dates in Thailand from December 24, 2021, can, however, continue to travel to Thailand until changes are made.

For these travelers who are still allowed to enter, they must observe the following:

  • You must have your second RT-PCR-COVID-19 test (not an ATK self-test) on the fifth to sixth day of your stay in Thailand in government-designated facilities or if you experience respiratory symptoms (at no additional cost).
  • Travelers must complete the TM6 immigration form on the plane.
  • Upon arrival at the airport terminal, travelers must complete and sign the quarantine form before going to the health checkpoint. Children under the age of 12 can use the same form as their parent / guardian.
  • You will need to provide the necessary documents to the communicable disease control officers, including your Thailand passport, arrival date and RT-PCR test results. If all the documents are in order, the officer will attach the quarantine form with the official seal of the Thai Department of Disease Control, along with quarantine instructions and the two required RT-PCR tests.
  • Travelers will then receive a copy of the attached quarantine form along with a QR code that contains the list of government designated hospitals / laboratory centers for their second RT-PCR test (at no additional cost).
  • Travelers can then go to immigration. Aside from immigration procedures, travelers are also required to provide the immigration officer with a copy of the attached quarantine form and passport in order to conduct the controls. Provided everything is in order, travelers can move on to a pre-arranged transfer to the reserved hotel.
  • On arrival at the hotel, travelers must present their copy of the attached quarantine form to the hotel staff about the entry regulations allowed for the travelers. After that, travelers must undergo the first RT-PCR test. Those who have already taken the test in state-approved hospitals / laboratory centers prior to their arrival at the hotel do not have to take another test at this point.
  • After receiving a negative RT-PCR test result, travelers must inform hotel staff about their planned accommodation on the fifth to sixth day in order to be registered in the COSTE system.
  • On days five through six, travelers must go to their appointment at the government-appointed hospitals / laboratory centers to undergo their second RT-PCR test and must bring their stuck-on quarantine form.
  • Travelers must present their copy of the attached quarantine form to the hospitals / laboratory centers for billing. It should be noted that there is no additional costs for travelers who received their TEST & GO Thailand Pass before December 22nd, 2021.
