VIVA Tiara began sailing the Rhine on January 20th, followed by VIVA Moments, with the ships’ first winter routes ending yesterday. Swiss Ruby will offer one-week routes between Düsseldorf and Berlin from February 12th.

River cruises in Central Europe usually come to a temporary end from early January to mid-March.

A “well-received” strategy

The Düsseldorf operator that mainly serves the German speaking marketreported favorable bookings for all three ships and caused his MD to Andrea Kruse was “more than satisfied with the initial results” of the strategy for carrying out winter river cruises, which had been “very well received” so far.

The rest of the VIVA As usual, the fleet will set sail again in March.

VIVA moments

Two wellness-focused itineraries are offered by VIVA Moments from Dusseldorf: the first includes Bonn and Boppard, while the second calls at Koblenz, Frankfurt am Main and Speyer. Prices start at 395 euros.

LIVE tiara

VIVA Tiara operates four-night round-trip city cruises from Dusseldorf with stops in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp, with prices starting at €350 per person. Her focus is on arts and culture with added culinary highlights including beer and chocolate tastings in Antwerp. The ship was renovated in 2020.

Swiss ruby

From mid-February, the Swiss Ruby with 88 passengers will be offering longer seven-day crime thriller tours from Düsseldorf to Berlin. In cooperation with Gmeiner Verlag – a publisher that focuses on crime stories set in Germany – VIVA has developed an in-flight program where crime fiction authors read combined with shore excursions that take passengers to locations written about in the novels. Prices start at 995 euros per person.

VIVA ships will continue to operate their ships at reduced capacity as part of their COVID-19 measures.
