Denver police on Friday confiscated 16 long guns, body armor and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition at a hotel about two blocks from the stadium where the Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be played this week, according to officials and locals.

Three men and one woman were arrested at the Maven Hotel, Denver police said statement. The hotel on Wazee Street is near Coors Field, where some of the biggest baseball stars will compete in the All-Star Game on Tuesday.

Police, in possession of search warrants and acting on tip-off from a hotel employee, confiscated weapons and drugs from two rooms in the hotel, police said press conference On Sunday.

One of the rooms was on the eighth floor with a balcony overlooking the city center, The Denver Post reported. Police refused to reveal what was seized on Sunday, but The Post reported that there were more than a dozen long guns among the weapons seized.

The police did not specifically say whether those arrested had stored the weapons in preparation for an attack similar to the one in 2017 Shooting in Las Vegas in which a man from his upstairs hotel room shot at the crowd attending a music festival, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds.

“We have to find out as much as possible exactly why people were here in the first place – why the proximity to the city center,” said the city’s chief of police, Paul M. Pazen.

The Denver FBI office said it did not believe the arrests were related to terrorism. “We are currently not aware of any threats to the all-star game events, venues, players or the community,” it said Twitter On Sunday.

A spokeswoman for the Denver Office of Emergency Management also said there was no evidence that those arrested were planning a mass shooting.

Three of the suspects – Richard Platt, 42; Gabriel Rodriguez, 48; and Ricardo Rodriguez, 44, were charged with possession of a gun by a previous offender, police said. Mr. Platt and Gabriel Rodriguez, along with Ms. Kanoelehua Serikawa, 43, were also charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intention of distributing it.

Mr. Platt and Ms. Serikawa had outstanding arrest warrants on unspecified charges from other jurisdictions. Police said Gabriel Rodriguez and Ricardo Rodriguez don’t appear to be related. The hometowns of the defendants were not known.

“It is a big deal to have four people in custody when it comes to weapons, and it can be done safely and without incident,” said Chief Pazen.

Major League Baseball didn’t respond to emails or phone calls on Sunday.

One of the suspects posted on Facebook that he was “going out on a grand scale” and that he recently got divorced, The Post reported. It is not clear which of those arrested wrote this post.

“Our team immediately alerted the authorities about this,” said Sage Hospitality Group, the company that operates the Maven Hotel. “We thank DPD for the quick action.”

This week’s All-Star Game was originally supposed to take place in Atlanta, but Major League Baseball decided in April to move the game to Colorado after this President Biden joined the growing reputation for pulling the game out of Georgia.

Delta Air Lines and Coca-Cola also pressured Major League Baseball to postpone the game after Republicans passed restrictive legislation on the Georgia state legislature Suffrage.
