The best of the best anglers will soon be on the waters of the St. Johns River to win the first prize of $ 10,000 and the championship. The seventh consecutive Crappie Masters National Championship fishing tournament at Bass Pro Shops will take place in DeLand, Florida, January 22-23, 2021.

The two-day competition, hosted by the West Volusia Tourism Advertising Authority, begins on the St. Johns River, recognized worldwide as the Mecca for speckled perch (speckled perch) fishing. Basic anglers, weekend anglers, competitive anglers and families are encouraged to enjoy and participate in the tournament.

The winning team will take home $ 10,000 and qualify for the Crappie Masters National Championship at Lake D’Arbonne, Louisiana at the end of the season. The main prize goes to the entire winning team of the 7-city stop.

This world-class fishing tournament is televised nationwide on Crappie Masters TV and broadcast on the Pursuit Channel – a cable network dedicated to fishing, hunting and outdoor recreation.

“Not only is the Crappie Masters the country’s premier crappie fishing trail, but the opportunity to fish the St. Johns River is a favorite with our anglers. It’s a truly unique setting with opportunities for some of the biggest catches of the year. ” said tournament coordinator Mike Vallentine.

“This tournament is a great event for West Volusia County as it serves to enhance and preserve our outdoor heritage while helping promote the surrounding areas as tourist destinations,” said Georgia Carter Turner, executive director at the West Volusia Tourism Advertising Authority.

The fishing times are set daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The official considerations will take place at 3 p.m. in Ed Stone Park on the St. Johns River next to SR 44 in front of Whitehair Bridge. The considerations are public.

A free rodeo fishing competition for children will be held at Highland Park Fish Camp on Saturday, January 23rd. Registration takes place from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. .; and fishing from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. This youth tournament allows participants to have fun, fish for prizes, and learn about the joys of fishing. Every child goes home a winner as every participant receives prizes and gifts from tournament sponsors. Children must bring their own rods and bait.
