Wilson Associates has completed the renovation of the famous Parisian hotel Le Scribe Paris Opera for Sofitel Hotels & Resorts. The renovation began in April 2018 and was completed in three phases.

The historic 19th century property, highlighting many of its existing details, reappears in its original grandeur in the Opéra district. “We developed a design scheme that puts guests at the center of the spirit of Le Scribe and channels the hustle and bustle of Paris around the time of the Second Reich, when this place was in its prime,” explains Tristan Auer, director of the Paris Atelier Wilson Associates. “We also took our bearings from the renowned architect and city planner Baron Haussmann and gave the guest rooms and suites a typical Parisian flair.”

Echoing the men’s club aesthetic, a masculine design ethos characterizes much of the update, though there are more feminine elements in the guest rooms and tea room. Elaborate references to the city’s design features are also evident – with reliefs, medallions and vases that are reminiscent of an artist’s studio. Abstract works by young artists from the region also adorn the walls.

The luxurious accommodations are reminiscent of Parisian apartments with fireplaces, distinctive moldings, paneling and upholstered fabric headboards. Private bathrooms are also lined with terrazzo floors and top wooden strips, while folding walls, ceramics and tiles further underline the washrooms. The ceilings of the bathroom reflect the colors of the Opéra Garnier painted by Marc Chagall.
