FARWELL — Farwell’s girls broke into the win column on Saturday with a 59-21 rout of Happy behind three players in double figures.

Sophomore Makaylee Baldwin finished with 12 points for the Lady Blue (1-1), who limited the Cowgirls (0-1) to just five first-half points. Senior Charlie Trimble added 11 points, while junior Chloee Whitten had 10.

Junior Bree Humphrey was Happy’s top scorer, collecting eight points.

Farwell will be at home again on Saturday, taking on Brownfield.

Muleshoe 54, Springlake 48 — In a Friday matchup at Muleshoe, the Lady Mules opened a 17-6 first-quarter lead and held off the Lady Wolverines down the stretch.

Senior Aaliyah Sanchez led three players in double digits for Muleshoe (2-1) with 15 points, while senior Araceli Diaz tossed in 14 and senior Kylie Hernandez finished with 11.

Senior Halee Tascano and junior Emma Samaron did most of the damage for Springlake-Earth, which was playing its season opener, with 20 points apiece.

Muleshoe travels to Abernathy for a five-team, round-robin tournament from Thursday through Saturday.

Bovina 42, Anton 22 — The Fillies overcame a slow first quarter to eventually dominate the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday at Anton and pick up their first win of the campaign.

Junior Lesley Esparza led Bovina (1-2) with 12 points, while Destiny Lara and Aliyah Garcia each netted eight points.

Bovina returns to action on Friday night with a boys/girls doubleheader at Ropes.
