In a year of historic challenges for the travel industry, Wyndham made 38 new hotel commitments in the region in 2020, a multitude of key openings. A variety of initiatives have also been launched to support hotel partners across EMEA in rebuilding and enabling demand in response to changes and ongoing travel restrictions.

Wyndham’s top 2020 store openings included Wyndham’s European expansion of Ramada in 2020 Madrid, Valencia, Leeds and Budapest and sustained momentum in India and Pakistan. Other highlights were the expansion of La Quinta by Wyndham in Turkeyand Wyndham’s Super 8 brand debut in the United Arab Emirates and other openings in Germany.

At the end of 2020, Wyndham also opened its first hotel in Nepal under the Ramada Encore brand from Wyndham and expanded into India with the addition of Wyndham Ahmedabad Shela. Solid growth continued in 2021 when Wyndham announced the debut of the La Quinta brand in Dubaiand saw more momentum in Turkey with the opening of Ramada by Wyndham Izmir Aliaga and the addition of a new flagship hotel to its Dolce brand in Copenhagen.

Wyndham’s recent expansion in EMEA reinforces its commitment to its partners, guests and team members across the region and continues with a strong development pipeline of over 16,000 rooms that includes more than 20 new hotels expected to open later this year.

Some of the upcoming openings in 2021 include:

  • The debut of the Wyndham brand of the same name in Cyprus with the eagerly awaited opening of the upscale Wyndham Nicosia expected towards the end of the year. The hotel offers elegant accommodation in the main square of Nicosia, as well as various leisure facilities and conference rooms.

  • Further dynamics in Turkey Here, Wyndham is the largest international hotel group with over 80 hotels and seven new hotels expected to open in 2021, including the debut of the Days Inn by Wyndham brand with two new openings in Istanbul.

  • Brand expansion in the middle East With the opening of the first Days Inn by Wyndham in the United Arab Emirates in the second half of 2021, travelers visiting the charming Deira neighborhood will find more economical accommodations Dubaias well as the opening of a new Wyndham Grand Hotel in Doha, Qatar.

  • Further growth in Europe includes the introduction of Wyndham Hotels’ Trademark Collection with a stylish hotel headquarters Brussels End of March and other upcoming brand openings in Budapest and Dusseldorf later in 2021. Expansion of the Ramada by the Wyndham brand in Romania, with two additional openings in Targu Jiu and Slatina.

  • Additional development in India with the openings of Ramada by Wyndham Gangtok Deorali Hotel & Casino in April and Ramada Varanasi Katesar later in 2021.

  • Growth in the CIS region with additional openings by Wyndham Garden Burabay (Kazakhstan), Ramada Encore by Wyndham Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and a Ramada from Wyndham in Georgia Capital Tbilisi.
