CULLOWHEE, NC – Western Carolina had five players in double digits on Monday night as the Catamounts took advantage of a big first half behind the 3-point arc to beat Campbellsville Harrodsburg 106-62 in an exhibition game at Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center on Monday.
WCU shot 50 percent off the floor (42-for-84) and made 15 3-points in the competition, 11 of which came in the first half. The Catamounts used a 17-0 run in the middle of the first half to create a double-digit lead they would never give up.
Cam Bacote led WCU with 18 points followed by Tyler Harris With 17, Marvin Price with 15. Marlow Gilmore and Nicholas Robinson both scored a dozen points each, with Gilmore recording a double-double with 13 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive glass.
Kereion Douglas led Campbellsville Harrodsburg with 11 points, followed by Jahnoi Lee with 10.
The Catamounts led 8-7 at the 17:13 mark in the first half and used a 14-2 run to take a 22-9 lead after a Bacote 3-pointer with just over 14 minutes left. A Woolbright layup opened the second half when a Bacote 3-pointer extended the Catamount lead past the 30-point mark of 66-35. The Catamounts led with no less than 30 points and in the second half even with 46 points.
The Catamounts open the regular 2021-22 season on Tuesday, November 9th, welcoming Bowling Green in the second half of a double game with the women’s team at 7:30 p.m. The Catamount women receive Emory & Henry at 4:00 p.m.
