Lucknow: The stand of the J&K tourism department at the India Travel Mart (ITM) met with a great response from those involved, especially from tour operators and tourists.

The three day tourism event was opened by the Uttar Pradesh General Secretary for Tourism and Culture, Mukesh Kumar Meshram and it will end tomorrow.

A large number of visitors who visited the J&K booth showed great interest in the tourism products on display, inquiring about the most desirable destinations such as Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonmarg, Yousmarg, Patnitop, Mansar, Bhaderwah, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji and katra.

The delegation of the J&K Tourism Department, consisting of Dy Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Ahsanul Haq Chishti and the Deputy General Director, JKTDC, Ashwini Gupta, informed the visitors, especially the tour operators, about the activities of the tourism department to revitalize tourism before the Background of Covid19 pandemic.

In a series of business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-client (B2C) meetings, the delegation informed the visitors about the current state of winter tourism in Kashmir, in particular about various snow activities that are currently taking place in the world-famous Gulmarg Resort . They also briefed stakeholders on the lesser-known and upcoming objectives in the Union territory promoted by the ministry. Visitors showed great interest in the tourism infrastructure, logistical details and packages and said they would include these destinations in their itineraries and packages for the upcoming tourist season.

J & K’s tourism department had made arrangements for showing short films recently made by the department throughout the event. The short films about the diverse tourism potential of J&K, including leisure, nature, pilgrimage, heritage, adventure, etc., were very much appreciated by the visitors who came to the J&K booth during the event.

The departmental delegation also distributed brochures, flyers, packages and other promotional materials highlighting the different goals of the UT among the visitors.

At this point it should be mentioned that after successfully holding a number of events at home to revitalize the tourism sector after the COVID-19 pandemic, J & K’s tourism division has focused on promotional activities and road shows outside of the Union’s territory. Previously, the tourism department had also established contact with the tourism market of Kolkata, Maharashtra, Gujarat and other states in order to revive the sector, and the contact is to be further developed in the coming days.

The aim was to build and strengthen the confidence of tourists, invite them to practice all COVID-19 protocols and promote the diverse aspects of tourism from J&K.
