Jordan Willis poured in a game-high 18 points to lead Cooper past Brownwood 62-33 in a non-district boys basketball game Tuesday at Cougar Gym.

Willis scored all but one of his points in a torrid first half for the Cougars (7-6), who rolled to a 40-7 halftime lead – scoring 20 points each of the first two quarters.

Jaelyn Rivera followed with 10 points, and Kale Sage had eight. Ten different players scored for Cooper.

Luke Gray led Brownwood (8-6) with 11 points, all in the second half, and Morsello Hooker had eight.

It was the Coogs’ final tune-up before playing at Wylie on Dec. 20 in the District 4-5A opener.

Odessa High stymies AHS

Justin Martinez scored a game-high 21 points, and two other Odessa High players scored in double figures as the Bronchos beat former district rival Abilene High 65-51 in a non-district game.

Ivan Carreon added 19 points, and Naledge Jenkins had 10 for the Bronchos (8-7).

Chris Motl and Brooks Reese led AHS with 13 points each. They combined for seven of the Eagles’ 3-point goals, including four by Motl.

OHS led 31-28 at halftime but outscored the Eagles 17-7 in the third quarter to break the game open.

AHS (6-8) plays at Brownwood on Friday.

Knox City dulls Sharp

At Knox City, Bryson Callaway scored a game-high 24 points as Knox City crushed Lubbock Sharp Academy 77-30.

Blake Abila added 19 points for the Greyhounds (7-3), while Gage Morrow and Devin Guillory added 13 and 10 respectively.

Coahoma turns away Rankin

At Coahoma, Billy Bailey and Landon Wells scored 17 points each to spark Coahoma past Rankin 62-57 in non-district play.

Ryan Shifflett added 13 points for the Bulldogs (5-4).

Coahoma plays at the Buena Vista ISD tournament beginning Thursday.

GIRLS

No. 9 Honeybees top Bridgeport

At Bridgeport, Mya Wilson and Lillie Skiles combined for 29 points as No. 9 4A Stephenville beat no. 24 4A Bridgeport 41-31 in a non-district game.

Wilson led the Honeybees (16-2) with 15 points, and Skiles had 14. Lucy Espinoza added eight.

Gracie Rodriguez led Bridgeport (12-7) with 18 points.

The Honeybees play Waco Robinson on Friday in Stephenville.

No. 11 Gorman rips Cherokee

At Gorman, Delila Crain scored a game-high 14 points to lead Gorman past Cherokee 52-9 in a non-district game.

Kyndall Scitern added 10 for the Lady Panthers (18-0), who are ranked No. 11 in Class 1A.

Coahoma girls crush Grape Creek

At Coahoma, Baylor Wright scored a game-high 19 points as Coahoma beat San Angelo Grape Creek 70-24 in a District 6-3A game.

Madisyn Renteria added 14 points, and Cayhill Lewis had 11 for the Lady Bulldogs (6-8, 1-0).

Coahoma plays at Clyde on Friday.
