The NEW Home2 Suites from BAYWOOD HOTELS by Hilton Fort Myers Airport in Fort Myers, Florida are more than just the newest addition to the company’s portfolio. It is the 500th hotel to open for the 10 year old brand.

The 123-key hotel is also Baywoods 19. Home2 and its 60th Hilton Hotel, according to Hilton’s statement. Al Patel, president of Baywood, based in Columbia, Maryland, said the brand has seen strong growth since its inception and he believes it will continue.

“From day one, Home2 Suites has demonstrated the resilience of its extended stay model. It was a great brand to develop, operate and invest in, ”said Patel. “This is especially true for the increasingly overcrowded long-stay rooms where our Home2 Suites properties continue to perform well.”

Hilton launched Home2 Suites in 2011 to fill a space for a midsize extended stay brand with comfortable, homely amenities, the company said. As Extension segment as a whole, Home2 did well even during the downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, said Leonard Gooz, global head of the brand.

More than 400 Home2 hotels are under development, according to Hilton. The company recently signed an agreement with Chinese real estate company Funyard Hotels & Resorts to develop more than 1,000 Home2 Suites hotels in China. The first Home2 Suites are expected to open this fall.

Baywood has reached similar milestones with other brands. In 2019 the company opened the 1000th Fairfield by Marriot in Denver. It was during the pandemic last year opened the 97-room avid Denver Airport Area hotel near Denver International Airport.
