Ras Al Khaimah is both an emirate and a city – the RAK city (as it is often called) is the sixth largest in the United Arab Emirates. Its history spans more than 70 centuries; RAK is one of the few places on earth that was continuously inhabited at this time and is therefore of particular interest to archaeologists. The Middle East travel destination is flanked by the majestic Hajar Mountains, mangroves, and vast expanses of pristine beaches that offer both cultural and adrenaline-fueled adventures. And since the temperatures rarely drop below 23 degrees in winter, it ensures guaranteed warmth all year round.

The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert

If you really want to get away from the rat race, come to the ancient dunes of the Al Wadi desert. A luxurious take on Bedouin life, accommodations include tent-style buildings and adobe villas (each with their own infinity pools). The settlement is in the Al Wadi Nature Reserve, so expect plenty of gazelles and antelopes. And there is an abundance of unusual excursions The Ritz-Carlton organizes – for both children and adults. The farmhouse restaurant serves products from its own smokehouse and garden, there is also a Kaheela for small dishes and the Samar or lobby lounges for drinks and light snacks. The spa has a hydrotherapy circuit, a rainforest experience, and 10 royal pavilions.

The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Hamra Beach

The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, sister property to Al Wadi Desert, is a secluded beachfront hotel. It also offers pool villas, but 32 instead of a hundred and can be reached in just 15 minutes with a free shuttle. The Bedouin influence remains, but with a coastal vibe (white and blue tones dominate the decor), this is particularly evident in the spa with four pavilions and sea views. As this is a smaller resort, there is only one restaurant, Shore House, but the hotel offers its version of breakfast in bed – a Balinese-style floating breakfast in the pool. And private candlelit dinners on the beach can be arranged.
