Carnival Cruise Line suddenly removed all trips from its website in May 2021. Many guests have already noticed that they have not been able to book cruises for this month.

Now that could be a sign that Carnival will follow in the footsteps of another major cruise line as the company continues to work with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on a safe return to operations.

May cruises removed from the Carnival website

From Tuesday evening, Carnival Cruise Line has removed all cruises for May 2021. This now appears to be the case for everyone, and guests have not been able to book cruises for that month.

Currently, only cruises starting June 2021 are shown, with a total of 289 results with multiple ships and ports. When Carnival last suspended all voyages in April, the cruise line announced another suspension of operations less than a day later.

Although nothing has been officially announced, this could be an official announcement on Wednesday morning. However, the chances are that this is a site maintenance or passenger capacity that we know is part of the requirements from the CDC’s Conditional Sailing Order.

The cruise line has already announced one further suspension for operations in Australia recently. Carnival Splendor cruises will be canceled until June 28, 2021 and Carnival Spirit cruises until September 12, 2021.

It comes as no surprise

The Carnival Cruise Line, which removes all May cruises, is no surprise. Norwegian cruise line had already canceled all operations for May, and when a main line does this, it is usually only a matter of time before others follow suit.

All three major US cruise lines have the same CDC requirements, and we’ve seen indications of another delay for several weeks. Cruise lines have been waiting for more details on how to resume operations at the CDC and there will be no test sails until that happens. There can be no guest sailing without test sailing.

All new logs must be stress tested first, and cruise lines must have plans in case an outbreak occurs. The good news is that there have been cruises in Europe and outside of Singapore and health measures are working.

Let’s wait and see

For now, we just have to wait and see if the removal of the cruises in May means another suspension. Carnival had previously been announced its extended suspension on January 22nd when it canceled the crossings until April 30, 2021.

The carnival has already canceled selected cruises much longer in autumn due to delayed dry docks. The highly anticipated debut of the new Port Canaveral Mardi Gras was postponed again to May 29, 2021. The hope is that the LNG-powered mega-ship will not be delayed for the fifth time. Carnival Radiance, which is completely changing, won’t be back on line from Long Beach until November 2021.

New details may be posted and Cruise Hive will keep readers informed of any new developments.
