Starting in January, Carnival Cruise Line plans to resume cruises from Charleston, the company announced on Thursday.

According to the announcement, the first cruise from Charleston will take place on January 13th.

The company said it added Charleston to other cities on the list that will reopen in January and February, including Galveston, Miami, Port Canaveral, New Orleans, Long Beach, Baltimore and Tampa.

Carnival Cruise Line plans to set sail with its entire fleet in the spring.

“Our restart plan continues to be excellent on all metrics and we look forward to completing the restart of the fleet in the New Year,” said Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line.

“We appreciate the support and patience of our guests, travel agencies as well as port and destination partners who were the key to this successful new start.”

Like many other companies, the company is closely monitoring the situation with the pandemic and will act accordingly. Duffy added that the company will enforce pandemic protocols that could change over time as the pandemic situation changes.

“We are optimistic that vaccines for children between the ages of 5 and 11 will be approved before the end of the year and we look forward to welcoming more families back on board,” added Duffy.

For these ships, which will be back in service in January and February, Carnival will continue to operate vaccinated cruises as part of its current policy.
