Now that we are getting more and more people vaccinated, we may soon be able to start thinking about planning a vacation.

The library has many resources to help you with your travel plans.

When traveling to a foreign country, you may want to brush up on a few key phrases in a new language. We have several resources for learning languages in book and audio formats to get you started. Language classes are available in Spanish, German, French, Chinese, Hindi, Portuguese, and more.

Various travel magazines (and others) can be accessed online via the RBdigital database. Go to the library home page. charlottefl.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/resourcesand select the RBdigital under digital media. We have 3,000+ magazine titles available to view on your favorite device including Canoe & Kayak, Motorcyclist, Natural Geographic, and Shutterbug. We even have Dogster magazine so you can plan a dog-friendly vacation.

The library has several up-to-date travel books such as Frommer’s, Fodor’s, and Lonely Planet that provide details on places to stay, restaurants, and activities in various cities and countries around the world. We have travel guides from Amsterdam to London, Israel to New Zealand, Hawaii to Costa Rica and more.

There are also several travel videos available, including many of Rick Steves’ adventures, Anthony Bourdain, and other videos that will give you a preview of your trip.

One of my favorite travel writers is Bill Bryson. Bill was born in America and lived in England for several years. He has written several books on travel, the English language, and science. Some of my favorites are “The Way To Little Dribble”, “A Short Story Of Almost Everything”, “A Walk In The Woods”, and “Notes From A Small Island”.
