After more than two months, the Delhi government has allowed gyms to open with a 50 percent capacity and marriages in banquet halls, wedding halls and hotels with a 50-person limit from today. The rulings were part of the gradual easing of previously imposed restrictions to curb the surge in Covid-19 cases.

Covid compliance

According to an order from the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), owners of banquet halls, wedding halls, hotels and gyms / yoga institutes are responsible for ensuring strict compliance with COVID-19-compliant behavior on their premises.

50 people for marriage

“The weddings are also allowed in banquet halls, wedding halls, hotels with a maximum number of 50 people and in strict compliance with COVID-friendly behavior … The owner of banquet halls, wedding halls, hotels is responsible for strict compliance with COVID-appropriate behavior” , it was said.

50% occupancy

“Gyms and yoga institutes can open up to 50 percent of their capacity. The owners of high schools / yoga institutes are responsible for strict compliance with COVID-compliant behavior, ”the order says.

Spas and cinemas remain closed

Cinemas, theaters, health resorts, schools, universities and educational institutions remain closed in the state capital. Restaurants with up to 50 percent capacity and markets are already allowed to open.

The Delhi government imposed a lockdown in the state capital on April 19 at the height of the second wave of COVID-19. After a steady decline in daily coronavirus cases for several days, Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a phased unblocking process starting Jan.

On April 20, Delhi saw the largest increase of 28,395 new coronavirus cases since the pandemic started last year. On April 26, the city recorded the highest rate of positivity ever at 36.24 percent.
