Deputy Tourism Minister Fish Mahlalela held a press conference with business owners and investors in Cape Town on Friday to discuss the tourism recovery plan.

JOHANNESBURG – Deputy Tourism Minister Fish Mahlalela said women, youth and people with disabilities should not be excluded from developing the tourism sector.

Mahlalela held a press conference with business owners and investors in Cape Town on Friday to discuss the tourism recovery plan.

The commitment will come as the department prepares for the presentation of the budget vote in Parliament next week.

Stressing the importance of change in the industry, Mahlalela said that if investment opportunities are created, they should aim to eradicate inequalities among women, youth and people with disabilities.

The deputy minister said sustainability could only be achieved if these minority groups were included.
“If you bring women, young people and people with disabilities together, they make up over 80% of the population. So if you exclude them, you create a problem for development, for growth for everything ”.
