At least 50 English supporters were intercepted by police and housed in 27 hotels around Rome after violating Italy’s five-day quarantine rule ahead of the Euro 2020 quarter-finals, local newspaper Il Messaggero reports.

All affected fans had their tickets canceled and their names put on the so-called “black list” for the city’s fan zones and the Olympic Stadium.

The rules are in place to control the spread of the coronavirus in the country, but that hasn’t stopped some chancellors from getting a taste of the action.

England beat Ukraine 4-0 last night and secured a place in the semifinals with an outstanding performance. Captain Harry Kane scored a goal in the first four minutes of the game.
