Dehradun, March 21st (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said on Sunday that another 50 vehicles will be registered for the next tourism season in the Corbett Tiger Reserve and will be driven by women.

In a program for World Forest Day in Ramnagar in Nainital, Rawat said the government would also provide the drivers with the necessary financial support to buy a “gypsy” as part of the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali program.

According to a press release, the Prime Minister said that in addition to an amphitheater, a light and sound show will also be launched.

He said the wildlife rescue center under construction in the Dhela Range of the tiger reserve will be opened to tourists.

Forest Minister Dr. Hark Singh Rawat said the state government had made women “nature guides” on the initiative.

He said that every woman “nature guide” now earns Rs 25,000 a month. In the future, they will be trained for free, he said.

In the current tourism season, forest officials said that 73 “nature guides”, including eight women, were selected and trained for 15 days.

Forest officials said that about 1.65 lakh tourists have visited the Corbett Tiger Reserve since February this year, resulting in sales of around 7.25 rupees. PTI DPT RDK RDK
