OXFORD – The Granville Tourism Development Authority is now accepting grant applications for the upcoming fiscal year.

The primary purpose of the Mini Grant program is to assist organizations and agencies in Granville County in promoting and promoting events and activities that promote tourism and have an economic impact on visitor spending. The aim is to stimulate events and activities that can grow and ultimately flourish on their own without direct funding. Any approved funding should be viewed as a complementary resource only.

Applicants for grant funding must be a Granville County-based ward group, non-profit organization, county ward, or recognized ward within county boundaries. Nonprofit groups cannot apply for grant funding unless proceeds from the event go to a community-sponsored event.

Projects to consider should encourage visitors outside the county, particularly those that promote GTDA’s mission to market the area as a travel destination. (The tourism industry’s definition of “visitor” is individual trekking outside 50 miles to participate in an event or activity.) Events scheduled outside of rush hour may receive a higher priority.

Total funding for an event, project, or program is no more than 25 percent of the total project budget and cannot exceed $ 5,000. A one-time artist / entertainment allowance of up to $ 1,000 is included in the request.

Grant applications will be accepted until April 19, 2021 for inclusion in the coming financial year (July 2021 to June 2022). The GTDA board will review the applications and be ready to make recommendations for approval during its board meeting in June. The winners will be notified after July 1st when the new fiscal year begins.
