HOLLAND – After a record-setting performance that broke the Division III record for scoring in a game in the season opener, the Hope College women’s basketball team continued its fast pace.

The Flying Dutch defeated Illinois Wesleyan 99-73 on Saturday in the Hope Tip Off Tournament at DeVos Fieldhouse to improve to 2-0.

The fast pace came right from the opening tip for the second game in a row as Hope outscored Illinois Wesleyan 33-7 to take a swift, commanding lead.

The Flying Dutch were then actually outscored in the second (14-13) and third (32-25) quarters, but scored 28 in the fourth quarter to cruise to victory.

Claire Baguley had her second dominating game in a row with 18 points and four rebounds.

After leading the record-setting charge with 12 quick points on Friday, Baguley was named Tip Off Tournament MVP.

Ella McKinney powered the Hope offense with 19 points and eight rebounds. Savannah Feenstra had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Meg Morehouse had four points, four assists, four rebounds and two steals.

McKinney and Morehouse were named to the all-tournament team.

Of the bench, Kendall Sietsema had 11 points, Jada Garner had 10 and Olivia Bellows had nine.

Mallory Powers led Illinois Wesleyan (1-1) with 18 points ant Caite Knutson had 16. Powers was named to the all-tournament team.
