JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Towards the end of summer, cruise lines hope to be back to sea soon.

Carnival Cruise Line announced last week that it is hoping to bring three of its ships into service in July, including the Carnival Horizon, which departs from Miami.

In “The Morning Show” Scott Lara, The Cruise Genius and travel expert, said on Sunday He believes US cruises will resume sometime this summer.

“We’re in a very good place right now,” said Lara. “I am confident that cruising can resume in some form this summer.”

But Lara said there are several obstacles to overcome, including Florida’s ban on vaccination records that was signed by Governor Ron DeSantis earlier this month.

“He made it very clear that no passports are required. However, the CDC and the US government want to make sure that all passengers are vaccinated so we can have a safe cruise experience,” Lara said.

in the a statement released earlier this monthThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said, in part, “COVID-19 vaccines play a critical role in safely resuming passenger operations.”

Cruise ships have been docked in the US for more than a year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this year Florida sued the federal government via the CDC’s No-Sail order. The governor said the restrictions on order are harming the cruise industry and the state’s economy. A judge heard arguments on the case last week, and The governor said he was optimistic that cruises can return this summer.
