IIt often takes time to really find the time and headspace to accept a good book. At Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, guests can now find all the inspiration they need thanks to a new partnership with the bibliophile platform Literary Hub (also known as Lit Hub). Lit Hub has set up a curated book club for Kimpton. Guests can read suggested texts while staying at select Kimpton hotels.
The Lit Hub editorial team selects the titles and selects books written by women authors in honor of the Month of Women’s History (March) for the Kimpton x Lit Hub reading list this spring. The list includes (with descriptions by Kimpton):
- How beautiful we were by Imbolo Mbue – In this novel, a diverse cast who live together in a village decides to oppose an oil company that invades their land and destroys it. The story examines topics such as corporate greed and destruction, but also hope and freedom.
- Nobody talks about it by Patricia Lockwood – This Lockwood debut novel is a fun cultural commentary that turned into tragedy and encompasses life in the Internet age.
- Eerie valley by Anna Wiener – A reminder of the technology industry that reveals the extravagance, striving and disillusionment of Silicon Valley.
Anyone can purchase the selection and then attend the appropriate virtual Q&A and readings with authors, publishers and independent bookstore owners. You can find the curated books for each season on the Kimpton and Lit hub Social media channels and information on how to access the interviews and discussions.
For guests looking to delve even deeper into literature during their stay, Kimpton also offers guests access to Lit Hub’s long weekend literary routes. The book agendas show the best bookstores and libraries, restaurants and activities in specific travel destinations. Ask for itineraries upon check-in.
