HIRAM — Winnie LaRochelle’s double-double led the Rangeley girls’ basketball team to a 52-40 win over Sacopee Valley on Saturday.

LaRochelle scored 25 points, including 11 of 16 shots at the free-throw line, and grabbed 10 rebounds. Emily Eastlack added 19 points and seven assists for the Lakers (3-1).

Emma Boulanger was the top scorer for the Hawks (1-7) with 10 points, and Keira Greene and Elyse Guptill each added nine.

BOYS BASKETBALL

WATERVILLE 55, BELFAST 38: Nick Poulin scored 12 points to lead the Purple Panthers to their first win of the season, a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win over the Lions in Belfast.

Liam von Oesen scored 11 points while Spencer Minihan added 10 points or Waterville (1-9).

Belfast falls to 2-10.

DIRGO 52, Mt. OPEN 43: Freshman Nathaniel Wainwright lost four 3-pointers and posted a game-high 18 in the Cougars’ (8-2) win over the Roadrunners (4-6) at Dixfield with 18 points.

Three other Dirigo players scored double digits: Trent Holman (three 3s) scored 11 points, and Charlie Houghton and Trenton Hutchinson each hit a pair of 3s to finish with 10 points. 36 of the Cougars’ points came from twelve 3-pointers.

Adam Luce and Kaden Pillsbury each scored 11 points for Mt. Abram and Payton Mitchell added nine.

SACOPEE VALLEY 60, RANGELEY 17: Ashton Day pulled off a balanced 12-point attack, and the Hawks (1-9) held the Lakers (0-4) to six points through three quarters in a win at Central Maine Community College in Auburn.

Carson Black added 10 points for Sacopee, who scored 11 players.
