Austin, Texas – No. 19 Texas Baseball won 12-1 against Texas A & M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday evening at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorn pitching team together allowed only two hits for the islanders offensive.

Kolby Kubichek started, throwing three solid innings, knocking out four batters and allowing only two base runners. Kubichek was credited with his first win of the season.

Justin Eckhardt pitched two Hit Innings of Relief, but was burdened with a run on three walks. Dawson Merryman threw two hitless and scoreless innings. Palmer Wenzel threw a scoreless eighth Aaron Nixon made his Longhorn debut in a perfect ninth inning.

Texas scratched four runs with three hits, three walks and one mistake in the top of the first inning. Zach Zubia made for the big blow and smashed a triple field in the left center. Zubia finished the 3v4 race with two RBIs and one goal.

The Longhorns brought two more runs home in the second inning to extend the lead to 6-0. Mike Antico hit his first home run as a Texas player and launched a solo shot on right field. Then Texas stole a run with runners on the corners Douglas Hodo III meanwhile scurry home Cam Williams got kicked out at the second base.

The Longhorns added another run at the end of the third on the first career hit by Mitchell Daly, an RBI double right field to make the score 7-0. Daly went 3-5 with an RBI and a run scored on his first career start.

Texas scored three more runs in the fifth and rose 10-0. Hodo pulled out an infield single to drive in the first half of the inning and Trey Faltine lined a split field to the left.

The islanders got on the board in the sixth inning after three walks and one hit.

The Longhorns (4-4) face Texas State at 6pm on Wednesday in San Marcos.
