Primitive skills classes at Woodsboro

Primal Knowledge on Buffington Road, Woodsboro will host a primitive arrow-making class on August 14th, 10 am-3pm. The cost is $ 129. Led by Associate Guy Neal, participants will walk through the 13 steps required to complete a deadly hunting arrow, including fletching, straightening, and fitting the arrow with an arrowhead. Md. Black bear hunting lottery now open

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is now accepting applications for the 2021 Black Bear Hunting Lottery. Successful applicants will be granted a permit for the five-day hunting season, which runs October 25-29 in Frederick, Allegany, Garrett, and Washington Counties. This year the department will issue 950 hunting licenses. Entries must be received by August 31st and the fee is $ 15. Animal Olympics path

The south wing of the Patuxent Research Refuge hosts a self-guided Animals Olympics Trail every day from July 24th to August 8th. Learn about the many animals that are much stronger or faster than humans and compare their strength and speed with theirs. This event is suitable for all ages.
