5. New York Knicks
Trade Pack: Frank Ntilkina, Dennis Smith Jr., Kevin Knox, Alec Burks for Kyle Lowry
The New York Knicks play well, though they don’t scare any teams right now. Adding Kyle Lowry makes them better because he gives a no-nonsense demeanor and proven leadership to a young team. People like Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, and Obi Toppin hold great promise together, and Lowry will help them grow. The Knicks could likely sneak into the playoffs with Lowry as well, which Knicks fans will absolutely love.
For the raptors they get quite a quid pro quo. Ntilikina, Knox and Burks are all building blocks for the Raptors, and they need defense and size after losing Ibaka and Gasol in Free Agency. The Raptors have Ntilkina’s defenses to replace Lowrys, and Knox has a very high ceiling. Knox eventually becomes the immediate starter alongside Pascal Siakam and they begin to form a team that will be very competitive in the near future.
4. Detroit Pistons
Trade Pack: Blake Griffin, a future first-round choice for Kyle Lowry
The pistons found a gem in Jerami Grant, but Blake Griffin just looks like he isn’t one of them. Griffin is no longer one of the best strikers in the NBA, but he is a very talented goalscorer with a high basketball IQ. Preparing for Blake Griffin and Pascal Siakam would give the opponents fits as they can score from the perimeter or from the surroundings and be effective on the edge. The Raptors should trade Lowry, and if they get another effective player for it, their standing will improve a lot right now.
The pistons add Kyle Lowry to put Kylian Hayes in the role of starting point guard while Grant gets a playmaker and shooter. Lowry makes the team better and gives the piston the lead in the point guard position. Blake Griffin has the worst season of his career averaging just 13.3 PPG. When he’s swapped for an NBA champion, everyone on the team gets better.
3. Orlando Magic
Trade Pack: Al-Farouq Aminu, Mo Bamba, Terrence Ross for Kyle Lowry
The Orlando Magic now need a point guard as Markelle Fultz has another injury. With Nikola Vucevic on the field, the magic needs a ball handler to feed him the ball and play it. Kyle Lowry is a specialist as a secondary star and very selfless on the offensive. Lowry can play through Vucevic, qualify for three, and put a Magic team in the lead looking to advance to the second round of the playoffs.
Bamba is a talented young player, which makes him a perfect trading piece for the Raptors. Throwing in Rosa and Aminu, the Raptors get 2 players to build around by swapping out franchise point guard Kyle Lowry and not letting him run for free. Bamba goes well with Siakam and Ross is a shooter of the starting caliber who can score from the outside with an average of 34.9% of three points.
2. New Orleans Pelicans
Trading Package: JJ Redick, Lonzo Ball, a future round one choice, a future round second choice for Kyle Lowry
The New Orleans Pelicans have got off to a good start to this season as their two stars Zion Williamson and Branson Ingram are both healthy. The pelicans would want to keep Zion and Ingram, but everyone else should be made dispensable to ensure the team can attend a very talented western conference. Lonzo Ball still has a very high ceiling, but Kyle Lowry immediately gives the pelicans what they need.
Lowry has an average of 18.2 PPG and can control the ball, while Ingram and Zion control the forward positions at times. Lowry, Eric Bledsoe, Ingram, Zion and Steven Adams are strong lineups with great defense and lots of points. The Raptors will also pair Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby with Lonzo Ball and add some picks, which is a good start for a quick rebuild.
1. Los Angeles Clippers
Trade Pack: Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Marcus Morris for Kyle Lowry
The Los Angeles Clippers are once again one of the best teams in the NBA. Paul George is playing just before his MVP season 2 years ago and Kawhi Leonard is one of the best 2-way players in the game. The change of coach and the division of the roster also seem to have helped the Clippers with their chemistry. But they still need a point guard.
Lowry is exactly the player they need to form a Big Three because he can shoot from the outside and bring leadership to the team. The Clippers have done well with Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams, but Lowry is bringing them closer to competing with the Lakers and Nets. The Raptors can move on from Lowry and acquire some long-term assets in Morris (who had a career year last season) and short-term assets to make room in Williams and Beverley.
