COLLEGE STATION, TX – The Reed Arena is hosting two major events that will hopefully generate high cash flow for companies in the Brazos Valley.

The PBR Aggieland Classic and the World Fighting Championship will fill the grandstands of the Reed Arena for the first time. They both take place before the summer break ends and help attract tourism and boost the local economy.

These events are attracting national attention, which is good news for Aggieland.

“It will be great for us to have some new events. We haven’t had many such events at Reed Arena in the past and obviously we haven’t had any real events in town with COVID, ”said Kindra Fry, Senior Director of Tourism at Visit College Station.

Now that things are moving forward, the churches are open to events with larger crowds.

“Events of this caliber and size are so important to recovery,” added Fry. “You are so important to our local businesses. You are so important to our hotels.”

The World Fighting Championship will attract martial arts and MMA fans from all over the world. Hopefully, given the college station’s location between major Texas cities, events like WFC will encourage Texans to drive for a few hours.

“Our location is first class. We are in the middle of all big cities. What we’re seeing more of now is this drive market, ”said Fry.

Fry explained the propulsion market as those people who may be reluctant to travel by air but are willing to return there and head to nearby cities for weekend getaways.

Since Governor Greg Abbott lifted the mask mandate, companies have seen a drastic change in traffic through their doors.

“We have seen a huge increase in sales and new tourist conferences in tourism,” said Jake Zamora, Aggieland Outfitters awesome. “

As more people are vaccinated, there is a sense of acceptance to return to normal with ease.

“In addition to the money and the sales, it’s exciting to see people out and about again. People feel a little safer since the vaccine came out, ”added Zamora.

Many are looking forward to the second half of the year and hope to bring life back to Aggieland.

“We have a football season that is supposed to be at full capacity at Kyle Field. Classes next year are supposed to be almost entirely personal so I don’t see any slowdown. I see great things for our future and the future of our community, ”said Zamora.

Tickets for the PBR Aggieland classic are available now and will take place from April 9th to 10th. The WFC will fill the booths in the Reed Arena on Saturday 5th June. Tickets will go on sale this weekend.
