HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WHLT) – Hotels are currently overcrowded with Hurricane Ida evacuees making reservations difficult for many.

Employees at the Holiday Inn in Hattiesburg said phones rang off the phone and customers wanted to know if rooms were available.

“We’ve been here since Saturday and this hotel managed to find us rooms. They were great and gave us the services we need, accepted the dogs and just totally welcome, ”said Danica Cordell, who was evacuated due to the hurricane.

A Holiday Inn manager said there are more customers than usual and the hotel is doing everything it can to accommodate the hurricane evacuees.

“We were pretty sold out last week. Our hotel is overcrowded with hurricane evacuees and it’s pretty hectic, ”said the manager.
