Yesterday January 28, British singer-songwriter Rex Orange County announced a performance on Friday May 27, 2022 at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. The upcoming Memorial Day weekend engagement was announced as part of his 2022 North American tour. Tickets go public Friday, February 4th at 10:00am PST.
The tour announcement follows the recent announcement of his new album WHO CARES?, due out March 11, 2022 via Sony Music, as well as the lead single and video “GO ON.“The album will be Rex’s first release since 2020’s Live at Radio City Music Hall EP, coming from his two sold-out shows at the venue in 2020, just before his international pony tour in Berlin was canceled due to Covid- 19 was aborted. As it turns out, however, that the tour was canceled is part of the making of this album. After spending most of 2020 quarantined at home in the UK, Rex headed to Amsterdam in the autumn to record with Benny Sings, with whom he created the 2017 platinum-selling breakout single “loving is easy“
What began as sessions with no expectations grew into an incredibly productive 48-hour recording window with Benny, which led to a follow-up trip to Amsterdam. The ensuing 10 days of work together resulted in his fourth album, made in close collaboration with Benny, a playful record by an artist with a playful vibe. The album also reunites Rex with one of his earliest champions, Tyler, The Creator, who contributes a verse to OPEN A WINDOW, marking the pair’s first collaboration since Tyler’s 2017 album Flower Boy.
