South Dakota celebrated another dominant Conference basketball win this weekend.

The USD 65-38 blowout in North Dakota State on Saturday at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center marked the second straight game that the Coyotes had the opportunity to give players big minutes at the end of the rotation and most of their starters early to be removed in the fourth quarter.

Like many of her victories throughout the conference schedule, she was won by a balanced effort on both ends of the floor. However, the one-sided score was the result of another low score allowed by the South Dakota Defense.

USD has not yet allowed an opponent to score 60 points in conference play by keeping the opponents under 50 twice and once (Saturday) under 40. Chloe Lamb showed an explosive offensive performance, scoring 27 points on 10-16 shooting and not even playing much in the fourth quarter. Hannah Sjerven added nine points, five rebounds and a block when 10 Coyotes scored a basket on Saturday.

Lamb was complemented by more hot shooting from the Coyotes, who in their three conference games prior to Saturday shot 39% from 3 point distance and on Saturday 40% shot from long range. With four wins in the USD non-conference list, they outperformed their opponents with 307-200.

USD didn’t even need a quick start to push past the bison. They finished the first quarter with 11 points after shooting just 26.7% in the opening period. But then Chloe Lamb exploded 14 points in the second quarter and the USD extended its lead to nearly 20 by halftime.

The best defense in the Summit League was held by the state of North Dakota with 29.8% total shooting. The first quarter was close, but like the other previous conference opponents of the USD, they hardly stood a chance.
