Our Learning Resources Service is looking for a seasoned librarian to join our amazing team in Wandsworth, providing schools and teachers with the resources they need to provide the best possible education for children in the community!

This post is offered as Job Share (12 hours per week) and the main working hours are likely: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., two days a week with some flexibility. Since this is a job advertisement, there may be an opportunity to increase the number of hours worked to full time in the future.

About the service

The Learning Resources Service (LRS) is a busy school library service. The service supports the teaching of high school students by providing a range of resources from story props to guided reading materials to subscribing to elementary schools.

About the role

You will be involved in all activities in the library. Support in the daily operation of the LRS; Contribute to the effective delivery of resources to schools that have been compiled according to the national curriculum and requests from teachers.

You will report to the Senior Learning Resources Librarian on a daily basis, and you will be responsible for and contributing to a number of tasks within the library, including general issues, returns, keeping library resources, and maintaining a good inventory of the library.

About you

In addition to knowledge of the national curriculum, experience working in libraries or with collections of written material is required. Formal qualifications are not strictly required, although a relevant qualification would be as beneficial as an interest in children’s literature.

You should have good IT skills and excellent communication skills, both oral and written. The role requires initiative and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
