To get the results, money.co.uk staff used research from BoldData.nl to see which countries have the most five star hotels, and then track down the top rated five star hotels in each country book5star.com. Next, they scoured Instagram to see how many times each five-star hotel was tagged by users to indicate each one’s Insta-worthiness and ranking. Finally, accommodations were ranked from highest to lowest to create the top 20 lists, further broken down by region the original study on their website.

With a whopping 2,428,501 hashtags, the obvious winner is Dubai’s Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, while several US hotels — Bellagio Las Vegas, The Plaza New York, The Beverly Hills Hotel, Halekulani, and 1 Hotel South Beach — also made the top 20 appeared for both the World and North America categories. Interestingly, some of the best are also affiliated with big hotel loyalty programs like Marriott Bonvoy (W Barcelona), World of Hyatt (Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall), and M Life Rewards (Bellagio Las Vegas), so you don’t necessarily have to worry about that to break the bank for a few luxurious nights.
