Along with spring, New York City is buzzing with activity as evolving restrictions have allowed some bars, restaurants, gyms, movie theaters, and more to reopen (albeit still limited). This hopeful feeling can also be found in the hotel industry, as many hotels – most of them closed since March 2020 – have reopened or announced plans for their eventual comeback. In a city where residents regularly visit local hotels – be it for restaurants and bars or for overnight stays – and for an industry particularly hard hit by the pandemic, it was a welcome sight to see these old friends open their doors again see. (And more good news is on the horizon as brand new hotels like Aman New York open later this year.)

While not all of the city’s top hotels have re-emerged (the iconic Four Seasons Hotel New York in Midtown, for example, has yet to see an appointment), those that are opening do so with a host of improved cleaning and cleaning security protocols in place, from Temperature tests and mask requirements up to the provision of minibars and nightly turndown on request. With some personalized services put on hold due to social distancing and indoor eating and drinking still restricted, the luxury experience might feel a little different now, but some fun new things have also been added, including new suites, spas, and activities in the city.
