Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho is currently at a professional crossroads in his current run with Barcelona.

Philippe Coutinho has had a notable injury-damaged season as he missed the second half of the season due to a gnawing knee injury, which also kept him out of the final roster of the 2021 Brazilian Copa America.

At the moment there are plans to tie Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for the preseason plan soon but there is no guarantee he will appear for the Catalan side in the coming season.

By and large, Barcelona are more than open to sacking the veteran midfielder during the current summer transfer window and these three clubs could be an ideal match for him.

arsenal

If there’s one Premier League club in dire need of a build-up threat, it’s Arsenal.

For one, Emilie Smith Rowe led Arsenal in key passes per game in the 2020/2021 Premier League season averaging just 1.44. Martin Odegaard became Arsenal’s playmaker in the second half of the season but has now returned to parent club Real Madrid.

Overall, Arsenal could use any player who has the ability to throw important passes in the defensive third of the opponent and at the same time lead the game from zone 14.

With Arsenal currently unable to afford to do anything for a high-priced midfielder, Philippe Coutinho would be a possible low risk, high reward option for the Gunners.

Coutinho has a long history in England’s top division, which goes back to his remarkable career with Liverpool. From his great goals outside the box to easy skills in pushing the game in the final period, Coutinho made a name for himself during his formidable run in the Premier League which is exactly what Arsenal need right now.

Inter Milan

It’s pretty rare for a league winner to make massive changes across the board, but that’s what Inter Milan did with the current summer transfer window.

Especially Inter Milan and coach Antonio Conte Cut Ways after a dispute about the direction of the club for the coming season. Inter then appointed former Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi as their new coach. Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 setup was a staple during his run with Lazio, relying on Luis Alberto as the team’s attacking catalyst.

With Inter, Inzaghi currently does not have the one midfielder who can regularly create several scoring chances for his teammates from game to game.

Philippe Coutinho would do justice to such a role at Inter, and club officials seem to agree on that too.

According to a recent report from Spain-based Sport outlet, Inter Milan would consider putting Philippe Coutinho on loan for a season if they cut his wages for the coming season.

It is not yet known whether Philippe Coutinho would consider a pay cut to facilitate such a move, but if he plans to leave Barca in the coming months, Inter is a viable transfer target for him.

Borussia Dortmund

This would be a wild card for the Barcelona outcast midfielder. Borussia Dortmund recently appointed former Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Marco Rose as its new coach. Rose has yet to make a final statement on the system that he will be running his Dortmund for the coming season, but all indications are that he is on the move with the balanced 4-2-3-1 setup.

Dortmund could soon have a new attack catalyst as English star Jadon Sancho will to join Manchester United.

While Giovanni Reyna is expected to play an increased offensive role for the coming season, Dortmund could certainly use another midfielder who can become a groundbreaking playmaker as the season progresses. Come on Philippe Coutinho, who would be a dark horse that fits the Bundesliga powerhouse.

Philippe Coutinho has experience in the Bundesliga, including his notable one-year stint at Bayern Munich in the 2019-2020 season.

Aside from big surprises, Philippe Coutinho won’t wear the famous Dortmund yellow jerseys in the coming season, but nothing can be counted in the unpredictable world of the transfer market.
